Vivian Floyd Obituary

Life’s Journey:

DEACONESS VIVIAN LYNELL FLOYD

On June 26, 1951, a baby girl was born. Her parents named her Vivian Lynell.

Vivian, better known as “Nell” was blessed to be raised in the very closed knit community of Lincoln Park in Clermont. Her formal education began in 1955 at the Jack & Jill Kindergarten in Clermont. Lynell attended Lincoln Park High School from 1957 to 1964. She also attended and graduated from Matthew Scippio Academy in Ocala. From 1969 to 1973, Vivian attended and graduated from Bethune Cookman College (now Bethune Cookman University) in Daytona Beach, earning a BS degree in Psychology.

In April of 1974, Lynell was saved during tent revival conducted by Elder Preston Postell. Elder William Livingston was the Pastor. She served locally at Greater Macedonia COGBF in the following offices: Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Clerk, Usher, Minister of Music, Program Committee Chairman and apart of the Annex Committee.

She faithfully served on the Ocala District COGBF in the following offices: Minister of Music, District Finance Board, Superintendent’s Appreciation Committee Chairman.

She served nationally in COGBF, Inc. as the Minister of Music/Choir Director.

In 2013, Ms. Floyd retired from the Lake County School System. After her retirement and her brother’s sudden passing, she took on the role as Administrative Assistant at Michael A. Floyd Funeral Home.

In 2022, she was concentrated as a National Deaconess. Following in her father’s footsteps she was Greater Macedonia’s first and Ocala District’s first Consecrated Deaconess.

Arriving Home before her were her Parents: Deacon Asbury Floyd, Jr. and Mother Pearl Floyd; Sibling: Deacon Michael Anthony Floyd, Sr.

Remembering her today are: Sister: Thomasena (Cedric) Jones; Sister-In-Love: Brenda Floyd; Nephews: Michael Anthony Floyd, II, Marcel Murry, Alex Murry; Nieces: Lauren Dukes
Nicki Rawls, Chase Farley; Aunts/Uncles: Elder Andrew (Mother Alice) Floyd, Minister Sheryl (Brother Willie) Baker, Mother Cleo (Brother Willard) Reid, Mother Naomi Daugherty, and many, many cousins, Church family and friends.
