Marilyn Textor Obituary

Marilyn B. Textor passed away peacefully on April 16, 2022 at the age of 95. She lived a long, beautiful, fun loving and dignified life. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Marilyn was born and raised in Cliffside Park, NJ to Christian and Hilda Sorge. She was the youngest of three children. She graduated from Cliffside Park High School then attended Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing and was in the Nurse Cadet Corps during World War II. After graduation she worked at Hackensack Hospital where she met her husband, Bernard "Tex" Textor, on a blind date.

In 1948, they were married and had 56 wonderful years together before "Tex" passed. During that time they moved four times in New Jersey with a short stay in Hawaii. They settled down with 5 children in Bogota, NJ for 11 years and then moved to Montville, NJ for 37 years. After the death of her husband, Marilyn moved to the Oaks in Denville, NJ where she stayed for 17 years before moving to Leesburg, FL with her oldest daughter.

Since "Tex" was such an avid golfer, she decided to start golfing herself to see more of him. She ended up enjoying it so much she became a member of the ladies' club at Rockaway River Golf Club in Denville, NJ. She played in tournaments and played Hit and Giggle for evening golf with Tex. She also joined a bowling league during the colder months and joined a bocci ball league. She continued to enjoy these activities while at the Oaks as well as volunteer her time when needed.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Kenneth Textor, Timothy Textor (Manny Marquez), Patricia Luther (Bruce), and Janice Textor (Sue Wharton). She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Marilyn is predeceased by her loving husband: Bernard Textor; son: Lawrence Textor; daughter-in-law: Sally Textor; parents: Christian and Hilda Sorge; her brothers, and their spouses: Robert and Margaret Sorge, George and Emma Sorge, as well as brother and sister in laws: Arthur and Barbara Johnson and William and Terri Jamieson.

A graveside ceremony will be held at a future date that will be announced.
