Missionary Altermease Floyd Lewis was born on September 7, 1945, in Yalaha, Florida to Elder Asbury and Mother Lucy Floyd. Altermease was affectionately known as “Mease”, “Aunt
Mease” and “Weezy” to those who knew her.
Mease was raised in a God-fearing home, where she learned to trust and depend on God at an early age and accepted the Lord as her personal savior. Mease grew up attending the Yalaha
Church of God by Faith. At the age of 19, Mease relocated to Rochester, NY where she met Joseph N. Lewis. On January
3, 1965, they joined in holy matrimony and was married for 42 years until his passing. To this union three children were born: Darryl, Yolanda, and Joseph Anthony which they raised in love.
Mease was a lifelong active church worker.
She diligently served the Greater Adams Street Church of God by Faith in the following capacities: Usher, Choir Member, Director of Missionary Choir, Hospitality, Vice President, and President of the Missionary Department, Foodlink, NWNY Seminar Committee, Local and National Deaconess, Church Receptionist, assisted with bus transportation for Seminars and Conventions, Funeral & Kitchen Coordinator, and she played a major role in most activities held at the church. There were not too many functions that she was not a part of. She dedicated her life to the mission and vision of the
church. On Saturday, July 9, 2022, Missionary Altermease Lewis returned to her heavenly father.
She was a vital part of the church and her family; she will be tremendously missed by all who knew her.
